DRIVING/HALTER TRAINING:
$350 Month, 3 month minimum, driving training
$250 Month halter training
Driving:
- Most horses can be trained to drive and
pull cart safely in the 3 month time frame. Varies
upon the personality and sex of the horse as well as
previous handling experience.
- Higher training for competitive driving
in the sanctioned shows will take more time.
Includes:
- Board; inside private stall and
private or semi-private paddock.
- Balanced feed program. we
feed driving horses a 14% protein feed with 1st cutting
mixed grass hay. Alternate feed may be supplied by
owner if preferred (upon approval of trainer).
- Conditioning; use of walker
&/or treadmill as determined by specialized program for
individual horse.
- Driving Training; Full training
process from basic ground work to desired level of driving
training. Starting with basic pulling of cart to high level
driving, including proper flexion at the poll and propulsion
from rear while staying in frame, which is needed to be
competitive at the National Level.
- Halter Training; Horse is
trained to stand at a ground tie, and set up without
touching the feet/legs. To present itself in frame
stretching at the neck, with ears forward and overall
presentation of alertness.
- Lessons; completion of the 3 month
training course, earns the owner a maximum of 4 half hour
lessons on how to handle that horse in the discipline it was
here in training for.
Requirements:
- Dental; Prior to entering
the training program, the horse MUST have a full dental exam
with full floating and bit seats (if in driving training) performed by a licensed vet
or experienced equine dental professional.
- Harness; owners of drivers must supply
their own harness and non pinch copper mouth snaffle bit
(can supply the source for purchase of the bit)
Not included:
- Veterinary; All veterinary,
farrier or dental care and related fees are the sole
responsibility of the owner.
- Show fees; Any show fees (if
applicable) are the sole responsibility of the owner and
will be billed to the owner upon agreement between owner and
trainer, and is a separate entity, as showing is not
included in the training agreement or fees.

$25 per half hour
session
- On site lessons for any level of driving
, in-hand trail, driving obstacle, Halter, or any
other area of interest you may have.
