The cross breeding of the Shih Tzu and the Poodle is very popular with the active family with children. The Shih Poo generally looks similar to the Shih Tzu with a few exceptions. First the coat is somewhat wavy and not as straight as the purebred Shih Tzu. The nose length is also generally slightly longer than a purebred Shih Tzu, so there are less nasal noises when they play or exert themselves. Also, with this cross the puppies are customarily energetic and playful. Since these dogs are not physically or emotionally "delicate" they make a fantastic pet for active families with children.
