Donna King, Menagerie Miniatures
I began my love for
horses at a very early age, but did not fully realize my dream until we
moved to our farm in a rural area of MI in 1994.
We started small with a
few horses and grew from there. My training of horses
began with full sized horses, which eventually brought me to
the miniature horse.
I have received
education at several Universities, Sheridan in Canada and
Michigan State to mention a few, in the Animal field,
specifically Equine. I have also had formal education
on the breaking and training of race horses, through the
Oklahoma Horse Training School.
The majority of my
skills directly concerning the behavior and communication of
horses have been learned through self guided study.
Also, the expertise I have accomplished in the area of
training horses to drive has been through diligent practice
and application of the knowledge I have acquired through the
years and continue to do so.
Training philosophy
I love to be with
horses, communicate and befriend them. I do not seek to
dominate or intimidate them.
My training technique is
that of communication, cooperation, respect and yes
friendship. I train a horse to freely cooperate and
excel, because he WANTS to, not because I MAKE him.
This makes for a very good relationship between horse and
human, like a partnership, based on mutual trust and
respect.
I
specialize in the "spirited", horse, so don't be afraid to
bring me your hard to handle horses or stallions, you will
be amazed at the change in them after a little Menagerie
Training.
Show Accomplishments
Since the beginning of our participation in the Miniature
Horse Showing arena, we have loved the performance classes.
We have brought out new horses from year to year and have
accomplished high placings with them.

button. There you will find some of the horses we
trained and presented at the AMHR Nationals for the past
several years.
